Lying, or just mud-box stupid?

I just looked at my Social Security statement.

This is from the bottom line:

Total Social Security and Medicare taxes paid over your working career through the last year reported on the chart above

You paid: $xxxxx
Your employers paid: $xxxxx

Note: You currently pay 6.2% of your salary in Social Security Taxes. Your employer also pays 6.2% in Social Security Taxes.
