Hmmm. The governor and the legislature are all het up about Hawaii's dangerous dependence on foreign oil.
We don't have any. Nary a drop.
Yet we're as well off as Nigeria, except of course that Nigeria's population is 100 times bigger.
I followed a few links and never arrived at the originator of the map. Do we know where it came from?
Apparently it was first posted to the 'net on the Norwegian site According to Carl Talk - Stormers Blog:

Carl Størmer writes that a friend passed it to him, and that it originated with The York Group:

Are you sure that map doesn't represent gun-related homicides?
Or ice-cream consumption?
Or 'total quantity of hubris'?
