Public Service Announcement

When dishwashing-machine manufacturers instruct operators to NOT USE DISH SOAP that's intended for hand-washing, THEY MEAN IT.

Not even jess a lil' bit.

Unless, of course, one wants to produce cubic yards of fine-grained, extremely durable suds, say for theatrical special effects, or something.

    I did that once, it was in a rented condo at a resort and there was no dishwashing soap. It wasn't that big a deal, only had to run the dishes without soap about a dozen times and then the dishes were really, really, really, really clean!

    I do dishes the old-fashioned way - perhaps a practice that has long since disappeared from the American middle-classes as it has from the British.

    It's about the only domestic chore I don't loathe. I find it provides a nice 20 minutes or so of mindless activity in which to listen to the radio and contemplate the mysteries of the infinite.
